BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - A hard-fought battle for compensation has paid off for more than a thousand Bethlehem Steel families.

Tuesday, Congressman Brian Higgins announced more than $135 million have been delivered to retirees or their families. The compensation stems from the Cold War era, when Bethlehem Steel workers may have been exposed to radioactive materials. Bethlehem Steel assisted in the government's atomic arsenal project.
